Trolls and Hedgehogs at Forest Whimsy!

"A dedicated farmer, Groar spends his evenings tending his vast fungus fields, developing mushrooms of astonishing size." So begins the story that accompanies one of Lucilles new TROLL dolls in her Etsy Shop - Forest Whimsy! Groar and his friends, Rasmus and Humm live in a lush forest with their pet hedgehogs. Shy by nature, I was very lucky to catch sight of them recently, so you can take a peek at them in their true surroundings. Just look at those Giant mushrooms!!! Playing With Papercuts

Yesterday afternoon, I spent some time playing with papercuts, in anticipation of making some silk screens soon. The first cut is a 'Halloween' tree, although I still need to work on the base a bit.
The second cut is borrowed from a painting which I neglected to find a link to (if anyone recognizes it, please let me know!). I added the fish just for fun.
The third cut was inspired by the last photo (from my scrap album). I added the umbrella, ball and 'birdcage' skirt. I quite like how they all turned out. What do you think?

Just For Fun - Flute Candlesticks!

Yesterday was my husbands birthday, and completely on impulse I made these candlesticks from an old flute. I found the 'as is' flute in an antique shop earlier in the day, and had the idea that it would make a wonderful accessory for his birthday dinner table. When I came home, I realized that by taking the flute apart I could make two candlesticks! I glued the long end onto the top of an old etched silver lid that I had, and stuck the shorter end into another old candlestick that was laying around. Although my daughter (who is a flute player) was slightly aghast at my 'creativity', my husband loved them! I LOVE how they turned out too, and now am seeing an entire 'Orchestra' of candleholders in the future!!!

Strolling Theatre From The Czech Republic.

Years ago, I saw a wonderful puppet show that was completely performed out of a suitcase! The wonderful work seen her by the Theatre of Víťa Marčík of the Czech Republic, reminds me a bit of that experience. Víťa Marčík is a comedian and a clown in the proper sense of the word. But he is also a a stage director, scenarist, actor, musician... and much much more! As one can see from these photos, his energy appears boundless, and his enthusiasm infectious! His art travels in the streets as he strolls with his elaborate stages and scenery... Visually delighting all who he encounters!!!
