A friend of mine wants me to try to copy these 'faux wood' baskets and candlesticks. (Unfortunately we have no idea how these were made) They have to be lightweight, and sturdy. Initially I thought about paper-clay, but that may be too heavy. Someone else suggested 'Bondo' or wood putty, but I am wondering if that won't be too expensive. As you can see from the last photo, whatever material I use it must hold its shape and detail. I was thinking of making the preliminary shapes of cardboard and crumpled newspaper and then covering this 'form' with some kind of material to make it look like wood, ending with paint and glitter... ANY SUGGESTIONS???
