Thumbalina would swoon over a bed like this one by June Clinkscales. Actually - I would melt on the spot if offered an evening in such a confection! DREAMY!!!
Just in time for Halloween, or if you like haunted things all year round like I do, take a look at these amazing pieces by Patricia Paul. Her 'lady' skeletons are delightful, (I love the hear no, see no, say no evil trio) and her wizards accessories full of magic. She has a wonderful sense of whimsy and detail - just look at the sink complete with roaches and her bed with hanging bats! Nothing is missing here...
Its no secret that I adore all things French! So I was delighted to discover that Dominique Levy of France, makes miniature Majolica, Barbotines and Quimper pottery! It is financially difficult to collect these wonders in true size, so finding them in dollhouse size is inspiring and a real treat!!!
Did you ever think you'd see a title like 'Toilet Paper Wedding Dresses'? Its true! These gowns were created for a contest by Cheap Chic Weddings. Just look at the details - I just hope they are lined in something else besides toilet paper... Found via the fun blog A Life Of Whimsy.
Oh my goodness, just look at this wonderful little silver shoe that arrived from dear Mrs Staggs! Such loveliness in a tiny silk bag!!! THANK YOU! It will soon find a new home as a very special dollhouse 'seat' in my tiny dollhouse boutique... (More soon!) Also in the mail were these TINY TINY little fairy shoes, (posted about Here) perfect for 'me ladies' bedchamber... A girl can never have enough shoes - no matter the size!
I would love to have these lovely ladies by Maria Jose Santos Fernandez of Spain, for my Dollhouse! Perfect for the Marie Antoinette Air that seems to be wafting about... But they would need a 'Gentlemen of Quality' and 'Skill' such as those created by British dollmaker Jill Bennett nearby - to guard their virtues and tickle their fancies!!!
I thought you might enjoy seeing a couple of John McRae's class samples from the Castle. The 'Santa Box' was done for our 'Christmas in July' series. You can pull the red crepe paper Santa out and use the box as a gift or candy container! The gilded (dollhouse size) fish tank was the piece students made in his 'Dresden Objets D'Art' class. It is made from a combination of gilded Dresden and sheets of Mica, with lots of little fishy goodies inside - truly charming! John's classes fill quickly so I unfortunately didn't get to do either of these. But they are inspiring just to look at.
Saturday I did a 'Intro. to Altered Books' class at the Castle. It was a lovely day, and beautiful pages were made by all. Unfortunately I had a bit of a shaky hand while photographing so you only get a small sample of what was done (sorry girls!), but trust me, they did good!!!
