FLORIZELLE HAS A BLOG!!!

"Then taking the arm of his companion, and without saying one word more, it led to a sharp step to the door of a peaceful establishment of Rupert Street, in the district of Soho. The entry was decorated with one of these gigantic wood Highlanders which, nowadays, has almost the appearance of antiquities; over all the width of the window, which sheltered the usual display of pipes, tobacco and cigars, one could read in gold letters: Couch Smoking-room Gipsy - T Godall."

So begins the tale that Florizelle spins on her new BLOG. Pages of Poetry and Divine photographs will surely keep you occupied for hours... (I used the translation system Alta Vista to help me with the French!) She promises to send more delightful 'Paris Finds' but I think THIS is the place to keep watch now! ENJOY!

Indian Papercuts In Paris

Today I invite you to another beautiful shop found by our dear Florizelle! Marie-Helene de Taillac's Jewelry shop at 8 rue de Tournon, (not far from Bonpoint's), has these amazing papercuts displaying jewelry in her windows. Their size deceived me, as I felt sure they were quite large, but in reality, as you can see in the last photo, they are very intimate and small! Lovely little worlds to brighten our days...
(Don't miss Marie-Helene's WEBSIGHT its a real beauty and fun to navigate!)

Winter Wonderland In Paris!

Florizelle tells us that Christmas has arrived early at the childrens shop Bonpoint's in Paris! And what a magical wonderland it is! Can't you just imagine Marie Antoinette's children dancing and playing in these rooms? Look at those lovely dresses, and delectable cake! And then just for fun, they have a huge MOOSE (made in the United States and sent by plane in a horse box), pulling a wonderful little red-trailer playhouse! Wow, can a child ask for anything else???

Luminous Whimsy and Morning Tenderness From Frederic in Paris

Frederic Clement is a master of storytelling and whimsical visions. Who else could ask us to 'seek an eel in a haystack' or 'find the name at the end of language? Tell us about 'crocodile tears', or discuss 'shivers of eternity...'? Only Frederic can paint us such poetry... (translate with Alta Vista)
October 10th was the opening of the 'Luminus Tour' exhibition at the gallery L'Art à la Page, in Paris and Florizelle shows us a peek into dear Frederics art... His talent crosses many mediums and I am a true addict of his tenderly poetic and beautiful short films called Clements Songes look especially at his So Butterfly Song... true tenderness when we need it most...
Merci Florizelle, Merci Frederic!

A Day With The Queen

Unknown1_11

Like a picture book come to life, the candy-tale MARIE ANTOINETTE seeps into ones memory, and keeps court with our romantic visions. Today Florizelle invites us to partake in the beauty and splendor of The Teen Queen and pretend she is a dear friend... Come drink coffee from a lovely cup by the Musees de France, in a room painted in Queenly Colors by Emery & Cie. Sit on silk cushions created by Lelievre while nibbling delicate Laduree macaroons... Perfume yourself with "Sillage de la Reine" the perfume of Marie Antoinette recreated by Francis Kurkdijan :rose, iris, cut jasmine, tuberose and orange blossom, modulated by fine woody touches of cedar and sandalwood and two magnifcent base notes ,tonkin musk and grey amber. And to top our fantasy off, play with your little daughter wearing a dress (also sold at the Musees de France on-line shop) inspired by the portrait of the 7 years old Marie Antoinette by the exquisite Jean-François Liotard... THANK YOU FLORIZELLE for making our Queenly dreams come true!!!

Les Fées d'herbe OR the Grass Fairies

Once again, Florizelle shows us a delight as only can be found in Paris!  Here the shop 'Les Fées d'herbe' OR 'The Grass Fairies' on 23 rue Faidherbe in the 12th arrondissement.  It's a florist shop with beautiful finds such as the dragonfly porcelain of Sophie Masson, from the North of France  and the wire lamps of Pascale Palun's - Vox Populi (54 rue Joseph Vernet, in Avignon, Provence)  I blogged about these amazing lamps awhile back Here!
Florizelle also had the opportunity to meet fellow blogger Laure of Laurelines for tea yesterday!  I can barely wait to see all the wonderful art this fortuitous meeting will create!

'Bonpoint For Children' in Paris!

Mimeattachmen10_1

Today Florizelle shares with us the delightful children's shop called Bonpoint. This is Bonpoint's brand of clothing flagship store, stretching over 1,200 square meters in the beautiful Hotel de Brancas, a XVIIth century townhouse, 6 rue de Tournon near the Luxembourg gardens. Two Floors, seven huge rooms, a garden, a wood hut (with enchanting mushroom lights), antique chandeliers and beautiful childsize French furniture! In October, a tea room will be added in the backyard. The shades of the decoration as well as of the clothing are always very subtle and classic. The nicest room, according to Florizelle, is the one selling 'shoes', which has frescoes painted by the talented Clémence Rouveuvre and Clément Goutal, also known as "Clémence et Clément", whose workshop is situated in Montparnasse (119 avenue du Maine, XIVth arrondissement). Graduated from the Van der Kelen school, in Brussels, they work "sur mesure", especially in "trompe l'oeil". This is the shop where Florizelle found the two dolls by 'Apolline a Paris' featured yesterday! Thank you Florizelle for a delightful excursion into the best of French Children's fashion and design...

Butterfly Dreams from Paris...

Florizelle shares with us a delightful cloth doll maker from Paris! 'Apolline a Paris' graduated from the Duperré Applied Arts School in Paris, and is the mother of two girls. Her dolls are delightfully poetic and full of fun! (These two are known to catch butterflies with their little pink nets and give them to the nearest smiling child).
Don't miss her Websight, It's charming and a treat to look at. Definitely one of my new favorites!!!

Siècle in Paris

Today Florizelle takes us to a shop called 'Siècle' found on 24 rue du Bac. Full of delightful and inventive designs and plenty of French savoir-faire, Siècle was launched fifteen years ago by a franco-portuguese couple. Their websight seems to be out of commission at this time, however I did find some of their wonderful inventory for sale here! It is my understanding that all of these items are designed by this very creative couple!

More From Paris...

Today our special agent Florizelle takes us on a secret viewing of the gallery 'Ornements', rue de Grenelle in the 7th arrondissement. The  ceramics are  by Marc Albert and Mireille Mallet and the beautiful gold collars are made with old laces by Dominique Favey-Blackmore. We both adore the paper chandelier!!! And I think the collage by Dominique is full of inspiration...

SPECIAL AGENT FROM PARIS

Tresor_b1

I was overjoyed recently to receive an email from 'Florizelle' from Paris! She has offered to be my "special agent, a spy of beauty... able to send images from the 'capitale'..." that I can share here on the blog with you! A young mother of two, who somehow also finds time to "wander around the town (Paris) discovering some new creator or new shop...", the images she has sent so far are inspiring and truly wonderful!

First I will share these delightful scenography and 'valise's' made by Helene Druvert, a textile designer, from a shop called "Tresor by", rue du Trésor, in le Marais. Special little 'worlds of wonder' fit into tiny suitcases... and beautiful banners as a magical window display as only Paris can do...

WELCOME FLORIZELLE! WE AWAIT YOUR DISCOVERIES AND THANK YOU FOR JOINING OUR SEARCH FOR 'ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL AND FULL OF WONDER'!!!
