Polaroid Fairy Tales...

There is something otherworldly and moody about good polaroid photography. Sarah Moon is truly an “Impressionist photographer” of the highest caliber! Her photos invite us to look within ourselves and discover what she shows us... a phantasmagoric vision of the world that makes me think of fairy tales...! (suggested via Dans le grenier de ma vie...)

evidence of fairies...

While browsing Flickr I found these wonderful photos by Kate Phillips. I especially love her 'evidence of fairies' series with a tiny skull, crown and baby dragon! She has a wonderful sensitivity to small things that is endearing... Be sure and see her other wonderful work, including encaustic paintings and essence vessels HERE!

Collars and Gowns

I love the work of Karen Halt, and actually did a post on her earlier HERE. She not only creates lovely textile pieces that are painted and then coated with beeswax, but then paints her art in new settings... I am particularly drawn to her 'Collars with Torso's'. Three dimensional little paintings that have a figural base. And the colors and illustrations of her 'Gown by da Vinci' positively sing!!!

Lyrical Lines...

There is something wonderfully lyrical and sweet about the work of Susan Homer. "Susan Homer is an unabashed romantic. Working with a free and painterly hand she creates lush scenes of overgrown gardens reminiscent of those visited in dreams. Contrasting thick brushwork with delicate passages, she obsessively works and reworks areas in her large scale oil paintings, building an all-over carpet of visceral texture. Referencing elements drawn from her elaborate rooftop garden and a range of other sources from Audubon prints to china patterns to Victorian greeting cards, she creates a world out of time, edenic and rich with nostalgia."
