Jewelry That Tells Stories...

Jivan Astfalck of the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, creates jewelry that melds historical and autobiographical material, fiction and fairy tales. "...enigmatic, yet suggestive of the wounds of history and of the trauma and healing processes that are part of our relationships with others, these objects are sites of memory and fiction, history and thought, visible traces providing connections with the invisible and imagined in a complex web of relationships." Shown in order are: Daphne‚s Dream; On Memory and Loss - ChickenBones; Vanitas; and Sleeping Beauty.

An Old Pretender gets a New Home!

Dscn8985

Do you remember the incredible Doll that David and Paul gave me last year? I knew I had to find a very special way to display her. Last October I took her to Addison Endpapers and asked Julie to design a box that would highlight and protect her. On Friday I finally picked up the box and boy did Julie do a fantastic job, using a beautiful pale blue rose print on the outside, and a vintage cream moire on the inside. The shape truly lets this little 'Old Pretender' look her best! She now hangs next to my little silk dress (which ironically also came from Addison Endpapers) and Donna's Magnificent French Crown! ~ Perfect company I think!!!

"TIME FOR TEA ~ CLOCK" Class Sample!

Dscn8970

Here is my new class sample for the "Time For Tea" Figural Theatre Clock, to be taught at the CASTLE on SATURDAY JUNE 14th! Ms. Tea has a pre-sculpted head on a 12" wood mannequin, an inner 'apron' that supports a working clock, and paper clothing created of crepe paper, wrapping paper, and gold dresden. I added a 'Cake' fan for her to cool off with... Imagine her in colors matching your favorite china or perhaps your kitchen! This should be a great class!!!

Class fee is $135.00 ~ includes all materials. Limited to 8 students. Please call (510) 204-9801 to reserve your spot!

Dacha Fairytale...

13

I have a longstanding fantasy of one day owning and living in a Dacha! Not just any Dacha mind you, but one that is deep in the woods, where a secret meadow lies, and looks a lot like THIS ONE! If you are in Russia, I believe this beauty is up for grabs...
