Mysterious Porcelain...

1114596533_minifolk_piala

I am always excited when I find new approaches to porcelain painting.  These pieces by Milena Pirsteliene are available from ONA.  From the artists 'Folke' collection they are decorated with portraits of days gone by and text that is impossible to read, and overall craquelure  - making them all the more intriguing!  Lovely!!!

Another Collection...

Dscn8745

I've been a long time fan of the work of Diana Fayt! She draws and paints wonderful botanicals and birds onto hand-thrown stoneware clay! Most of my other dishes are antique, but there is something wonderfully whimsical and fun about her work that I just love ~ and of course, her craft skills shine through! I bought my first couple of plates from Art Stream in New Hampshire. Ironically Diana is based here in the Bay Area! One of these days I plan on going to her studio sale, but for now I find her work on Esty. Today, they hang in a cozy little area in my kitchen, but sooner or later, I'll have to move this little growing collection to a new wall!

Anna's Menagerie

Jug_swallows72

I am actually surprised that I haven't done a post on Anna Lambert until now. She is truly one of my favorite ceramic artists! Her handbuilt earthenware showcase her whimsical sensibility and love of nature! Her naturally colored pieces often feature beautiful organic shapes topped with delightful birds, fish or flowers. It would be impossible to chose just one!!! ENJOY!

The Ceramics of Jean-Baptiste Astier de Villatte

Evenementg

Having recently seen an article about (and falling in love with) the home of French ceramist Jean-Baptiste Astier de Villatte, I was delighted to find his work for sale on line! Architect and decorator, Jean-Baptiste studied in the School for Interior Design in Lyon. He has a gallery with a permanent exhibition in Chinon (France), where he shows and sells his creations. I especially love his figural work; busts, dolls, and other wonderful treasures that have a lovely sensibility and simplicity and charm about them, that captured my heart immediately!!!

Poetry in Clay

A couple of years ago I found an article on artist Roos Van de Velde of Belgium, in a French magazine. I've had the tear in my 'favorite' files since then, and was delighted when La Source aux Bois featured Roos' and her beautiful websight today! Roos' work and the way she lives her life, is pure poetry, filled with a magic light and tender delicacy. Breathtaking...!!!

Les Fées d'herbe OR the Grass Fairies

Once again, Florizelle shows us a delight as only can be found in Paris!  Here the shop 'Les Fées d'herbe' OR 'The Grass Fairies' on 23 rue Faidherbe in the 12th arrondissement.  It's a florist shop with beautiful finds such as the dragonfly porcelain of Sophie Masson, from the North of France  and the wire lamps of Pascale Palun's - Vox Populi (54 rue Joseph Vernet, in Avignon, Provence)  I blogged about these amazing lamps awhile back Here!
Florizelle also had the opportunity to meet fellow blogger Laure of Laurelines for tea yesterday!  I can barely wait to see all the wonderful art this fortuitous meeting will create!

Siècle in Paris

Today Florizelle takes us to a shop called 'Siècle' found on 24 rue du Bac. Full of delightful and inventive designs and plenty of French savoir-faire, Siècle was launched fifteen years ago by a franco-portuguese couple. Their websight seems to be out of commission at this time, however I did find some of their wonderful inventory for sale here! It is my understanding that all of these items are designed by this very creative couple!

More From Paris...

Today our special agent Florizelle takes us on a secret viewing of the gallery 'Ornements', rue de Grenelle in the 7th arrondissement. The  ceramics are  by Marc Albert and Mireille Mallet and the beautiful gold collars are made with old laces by Dominique Favey-Blackmore. We both adore the paper chandelier!!! And I think the collage by Dominique is full of inspiration...

Look at this outstanding 'Barbotine' found on Ebay Belgium! I also adore the pieces known as Palissy Majolica, which often have snakes, ells, frogs, fish, shells and other exotic creatures on them - all in three dimension - like this amazing plate found on the sight belonging to Laurence Vauclairs French Antique shop.

Barbotine \Bar"bo*tine\, n. [F.] A paste of clay used in decorating coarse pottery in relief.

Palissy \Pal"is*sy\, a. Designating, or of the nature of, a kind of pottery made by Bernard Palissy, in France, in the 16th centry. Palissy ware, glazed pottery like that made by Bernard Palissy; especially, that having figures of fishes, reptiles, etc., in high relief.

EPERGENE

"Shall we have tea with the epergene?"
"The epergene is ready for tea..."
"Oh what a lovely epergene you have..."

Do you find the word as fun to say as I do?

Good Enough to Eat On!

These wonderful ceramic pieces are by Diana Fayt. I just love the hand-drawn look, as if she went and made them out in a field of wildflowers! She also has just started a Blog, full of wonderful information... (found on Karin's Blog)
