Easter Projects...

Dscn8502

We are a few years beyond 'Easter Egg Hunting' in this house, much to my disappointment... (perhaps I'll hide some just for me...) I still wanted to do something with a Easter Flavor the last few days, so I made these two pillow tops. The one above started with a wool sweater that shrank in the dryer. I've never needle-felted before but thought I'd give it a try. I definitely don't have 're-fined' needle felting down, but it sure was fun! The one below started with some garden inspired screen printing on linen. I then cut out some rabbits of flat felt and needle felted over that. After I finished I realized that I could have gotten the same look by just cutting the rabbits out of faux fur, but then I would have missed out of the fun of felting - right? It's all about having fun in the process and seeing what comes of it!

I hope you all have a joyous holiday!!!! BLESSINGS!

EVERGREEN

Evergreen

Illustration by Britt Browne of The Paper Moon Project from her BLOG. She says, "I was inspired by illustrations I found in medieval herbal manuscripts, health handbooks and in the tradition of Herbaria. My print depicts the rapport I believe we can have with nature—similar to the relationships I found illustrated in the ancient medieval plates."

Collars and Gowns

I love the work of Karen Halt, and actually did a post on her earlier HERE. She not only creates lovely textile pieces that are painted and then coated with beeswax, but then paints her art in new settings... I am particularly drawn to her 'Collars with Torso's'. Three dimensional little paintings that have a figural base. And the colors and illustrations of her 'Gown by da Vinci' positively sing!!!

Little Red And Her Friends...

Who can possibly resist these wonderful creatures by Taniusha Stepanian of Russia! Her 'Little Red' makes me smile with her jaunty step and cap tilted just so, as if she is leading a parade of jolly friends. And what friends!!! Just look at these felted creatures, dancing, jiggling and having a wonderful good time!!!
