Some Of My Favorite Things...

Dscn7709

All of these are a bit dark and black, but I love them just the same... The wonderful Bird came from my Grandmother, and I think he may be a snuff box, but I am not sure. I just love how his cheast puffs out! The Dresden and transparency box was made by the ever talented Darren Calkins who owns Paris To The Moon in Costa Mesa! It has wonderful layers and a real visual impact! And the little cast raven legs, at least I like to think that's what they are, came from my good friend Jocelyn who knows exactly what I love!!! Have a wonderful Sunday!

I LOVE the bird with the puffy chest!

I like your dark side, Ulla. These are magical finds, aren't they?

Darren is such a great guy - I have never seen any of his work though, just FG and CO. Does the box light up or open? Is the image on glass or printed on vellum? Thanks, Ulla!

I love these things too !! The bird looks wonderful

Your puffer pigeon is a treasure and the raven's legs are a great "pairing"!

i love your things also...hugs, r

The cast bird legs can be purchased from a shop in Brooklyn called Swallow. It's in Carroll Gardens on Smith Street. The owner of the store has sold them to a couple of different places also to retail as well, such as the shop at the Whitney during the Kiki Smith exhibition.

I think you'd absolutely love Ria's shop.

The bird is wonderful! I love the way he has tucked his chin into his chest - both protective and proud. And I like his gleaming red eye too...

Hi Ulla!

Thanks for your nice comment on my blog :). It was fun to see you'd stopped by!

I love your treasures, especially the cast bird legs, I'm a sucker for things like that! I have several cast birds that I treasure. How nice that you have your Grandmother's birdie, something to cherish always!

Happy Holidays :)!

I just love those legs. So me don't you think?

Ulla, I found you through, well quite a number of people actually!! I've had a stroll through your blog and it's beautiful. So much spirit here!! I'm quite sure I will be back to visit often!

Ulla, is your bird an ink well, maybe? I have a wonderful crow ink well that has some similarities. His name is Edgar :)
