Halloween Show High-lights!

HALLOWEEN AND VINE is over, but the partying continues... (More on that later!) The show was FANTASTIC, and the crowds WONDERFUL!!! THANK YOU to everyone who came by to say HELLO!!! I managed to take quite a few photos and will share the best ones with you the next couple of days. Here is a picture of my daughter and I, and my booth set-up. Everyone dressed up, which really added to the festivities! This year I didn't bring my back-drop or glass jewelry cases, so it was a new format for me, but all in all I think the display worked well. There were soooooo many wonderful and talented artists, I wish I could have taken photos of everything! Here are a few of my favorite pieces for you to see, I promise more soon!!! ENJOY!

The Pirates have been after my computer all day, and I haven't been able to post till now! But I just couldn't let Talk Like A Pirate Day! pass without telling you about this fabulous party! A very dear friend of mine was celebrating her birthday, and decided to rent a REAL Pirate Ship for the event! 50 lucky souls came dressed to kill, I mean thrill, at dusk at a secret pier by the bay! First we had a sundown dinner and helped shoot off cannons created especially for the birthday girl! (Isn't she adorable with her cavalier by her side?)

I was thrilled to have my own Pirate in red, as my mate and escort me on board! I wore a matching red scarf and his hat as my prize! The weather was perfect and the view sublime! We had real cannon-shots at sundown, and birthday cake by dusk... In celebration of today, I remember my day as a Pirate!!! AYE!!!

Johnny Come Visit...

So DONNA, do you think if I build this, he'll come to my house too???

“After enlightenment, the laundry.”

So says a Zen Proverb. I found this delightful 'Clothes Pin bag' recently while thrifting - just look at those cute little 'Micky Mouse' like figures and shimmying inch-worms and ballerina bugs! Almost makes you want to go out and hang your clothes in the wind, doesn't it? When we bought our house, our back yard had a huge laundry pole in the middle and nothing else. It looked just like a Football goal post and was set in 2 feet of concrete. Obviously the previous owners didn't want it to go anywhere! When the house was ours, it was the first thing to go! I hated it! Now mind you, I don't dislike the idea of 'hanging laundry' actually I love the smell and feel of 'freshly hung clothing'. Its the romance of hanging laundry that I like, more than the actual doing it... I remember as a child playing hide-n-seek 'between the sheets' and laughing at 'Papa's Underpants' with my lil' friends... My grandmother was famous for her white linens and beautiful lace sheets, which she hung daily in her pretty Danish back-yard. I'm sure she would have loved the help of these inch-worms and dancing bugs, instead of our gleefull games!

“Laundry is the only thing that should be separated by colour.”

Funny how 'spilling our dirty laundry' has become something our society seems to love. “The laundry has its hands on my dirty shirts, sheets, towels and tablecloths, and who knows what tales they tell.” quotes Joseph Smith in the early 1800's. I would much rather invent my own tales then hear about others... My little 'clothes pin bag' reminded me of a project I began a number of years ago and never finished. I photo transfered a favorite photo of a young mother and daughter doing laundry with hanging paper-doll dresses flying all around them. My intention was to layer the piece with tea-dyed chiffon and have the dresses hanging from tiny clothes pins on linen lines... A story certainly, of Motherly joy and child-like pleasure, someday I may finish it...

Truth be told, if I had my choice of where to hang my laundry, clean or dirty it would be in Venice! This city of mystery and fairytales seems the ideal place for me to waft my linens - viewed down a quiet canel, with pretty reflections on the water. I don't think I'd even mind if something dropped and became someone else's 'story'... Where do you hang your Laundry???

Have You Made Your Dress Yet For The Bloglandia BALL???

Dscn7005

Many of you may have heard of the upcoming 'BLOGLANDIA BALL', hosted by the ever effervescent Elizabeth Bunsen! (If not, do visit E.B.'s Blog and find out all the details!) Yesterday afternoon, my dear friend and neighbor LEA invited my daughter and I to a 'Ball Gown Design Party' on her back porch. Fellow neighbor Lynnette (she's the one peeking behind her 'gown in progress' above!) and her two daughters also came along for the fun! Using a joyful profusion of papers, ribbons, trims and glue - Glorious Dresses were created that would make any Couture Loving Girl envious!!! Gown unvailing will have to wait till the BALL opens it's doors on the September 26th Full Moon, but here is a peek at the fun we had yesterday!!!

Where Snoots Live..!

Dscn6984_2

Have you ever wondered where 'Snoots' come from? Or where 'Maxfield and Parish' take a breather after robbing art museums? Well, I am delighted to tell you, they live quite close to me, in a magical home filled with wonders and treasures... Nimble fingered Trish somehow manages to keep this wild menagerie in line! Snoots sit on chairs, and cavort across shelves and under tables... They particularily like to hide under tiny lights and gather for celebrations, party hats at the ready... One wonders what happens when you close the door, or go to sleep - certainly dreams come true here! You can even have a snoot all your own If You Get Tempted! I warn you though, Snoots have a way of winding around your heart, and making themselves at home, no matter where they are!!! ENJOY!
