Miniature Shop Class In My Studio!
Last weekend I had two delightful women in my studio to do a paper theatre class. After talking a bit, they decided it would be fun to do a paper theatre, reminicent of an old-time shop, in this case a 'Sewing Shop' and a 'Candy Shop'! We designed them so they are more or less to scale with dollhouse accessories and then went from there. I think this will be a new class idea for next time around. Just think what wonderful shops you can hang on your wall, and I love the idea that you can add miniature doll-house accessories to them... In the sewing shop, note especially the wonderful 3/d cabinet, the 'wooden spool' table and those puffy curtains. And in the candy shop, the lovely lady behind the counter (she's actually from an old opera print of mine), those yummy colors throughout and the mirrored shelves full of candy boxes! WOW OH WOW!
What really made the day special was having only 2 students! Not that I don't love bigger groups, but having only two or three, allows me to really get to know them, and they get one on one attention from me. So I am going to offer a few days a month as 'BRING A FRIEND CLASSES', you chose what you'd like to make, bring your best friend, or friends, and we'll make a day of it... ANY ONE INTERESTED?

Ooo, I love them! I wish I could have been the thrid girl there.... xxo

Beautifully done and I love the one with the woman standing. Wishing you were closer so I could take a class.

Oh how I WISH I lived close enough to take ALL of your classes!!! I know from reading through your archives that you sometimes do the paperclay dolls and I've recently started to dabble in that media. I just posted one that I finished today and would love any kind of tips you would be willing to share to fine-tune this type of work. (I've been using store-bought celluclay.)

Did you start creating such miniatures when you were a child?and did you create such set and paper doll for your daugther when she was younger? (even if children can be very dangerous )it makes me want to play with the paper doll and to imagine a story around.
Sometimes I would like to be a child and to play like a child, without aim, without thinking to anything else than playing
(I probably try to do that with papier mâché )

I just love them. I wish I lived by you. I would enjoy spending time at Castles in the air and takin a class.
I am trying to find a painter that I think I saw on your site. I wanted to drool over her paintings again. I can't find her or him?. She did themes w/ fish eggs that looked like jewels all around and were very etheral? Do you know who that is? I think it was posted her. I have checked all of your back posts and didn't find her.
