Ulla's Dollhouse - Creative Cooking in the Kitchen - part 1

Dscn3706_1

Yesterday I spent a delightful hour or two cooking up some ideas for my dollhouse kitchen mural. I was inspired by a couple of my favorite books: Sara Midda's - 'In and Out of the Garden' and Dorothee Duntze's - "The Emperor's New Clothes'. My thoughts were that I would re-draw the illustrations and make all the little people wear white 'Cooks uniforms and dresses', so that the vegetables were all that had real color on them. Ultimately I think they are fun, but too fussy for such a small space. What do you think??? ... more later.

I love the figures dancing. That is just beautiful.

Wonderful illios! I like just a couple in color for that small a space so we could see them well!

PS - I'll be checking out Midda and Duntze's books at Barnes & Noble this week.

These are inspiring drawings and collages, Ulla. I especially like the whimsical collages of figures dancing and sitting on oversized vegetables. Wouldn't they make excellent illustrations for a cookbook? Or how about for a set of cards?

Really wonderful - a little Elsa Beskow, maybe?

I love dollhouses! I wish I were close to you to take one of your courses!

An extraordinary thing has occurred - I'm so overwhelmed by the fabulousness of all this that I DON"T HAVE AN OPINION!!!!! I think this is a first :)

Oh your wall hanging is enchanting!

I love them. I love that book in and out of the garden too, I could spend hours looking at it.

The illustrations are beautiful and so much fun! I do love the full colour version, but probably too fussy for the dollshouse.

The concept is wonderful....If you think it is too much...perhaps you could reduce the size? I have ordered both books and can't wait to do a variation of my own....Are you familiar with the book The Diverting Tale of the Radish and the Shoe by Louise Jalbert? For some reason I think you would like it. I say....don't give up on your idea....I can see it working similar to the Larson houses....Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas! Bravo!

Susan

The idea is wonderful and fun but I have to agree that it may be too much for such a tiny space--maybe just the vegetables themselves would work.
