Fortune in a teacup
This is a small collection of tea cups that I gave to my dear Mother-in-law while she was fighting cancer. Each year for her birthday I would send her a cup wishing her best of fortune for the following year. As fate would have it, she lost her battle in 1995, 2 months after my daughter was born. She was truly my best artistic supporter, telling me to "bring everything you have" when I visited, and then inviting all her friends over for tea and a 'trunk show'. On the last day I saw her alive (2 days before she died) I asked her if she would please be my daughters 'guardian angel', and she lovingly said yes... We miss her alot, her love, her smiles, her laugh, and her generosity. I think of her often, but especially when I serve tea out of her cups...

Beautiful cups and beautiful memories!
Take great care of them - so precious!

She sounds like an amazing woman who must have loved her son's choice of wife. The tea cup giving is lovely and the one at the top is so perticularly beautiful. So sorry to hear she is gone now but you know we are all great supporters of you wonderful creations.

Wow! You are the posting diva! i haven't had much time to get to the computer lately, so I have missed reading your blog. Your piece about these tea cups was very touching and a wonderful way to celebrate the memories of your mother-in-law.

Very beautiful cups Ulla and what a lovely but also sad story! *Sigh* I'm sure your daughter has the best guardian angels she could wish to have now!

That's so special that you have the cups with you. They are precious. What a heartfelt gesture that I'm sure lifted her spirit during her illness. So remarkable, you.

I believe you both were fortunate to have shared mutual love and respect for one another...and your daughter is blessed to have such an angel looking over her.

These are beautiful and so is the story. The part that warmed my heart was when she said to bring everything over!!! What a friend! What enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is a gift straight from God. She definately had connections!
