If you have been a student of mine, or visiting my studio, you may have seen one or all of my 'Inspiration books'. For years I called them my 'scrap books', but that name doesn't seem to fit anymore - so 'Inspiration-books' they are. I have been a magazine ripper and tearer for years, and have kept these albums of my favorite images since 1991. I have piles and piles of images waiting to be pasted in (I use double-stick tape) but find that it takes time to fill up an album. So far I have 15 books filled. I use cheap 9" by 11" drawing albums, which I always try to get on sale. My preference for "pretty pages" means that not just any images go down, I try to find images that tell a story or have similar themes or colours when I combine them on a page. It is important to me that the books are beautiful, even though I am the only one who looks at them. They are well's of Inspiration for me. I turn to them frequently, reveling in the beauty and surprise of our grand world. I am a true romantic, as you can see from the images. (see more in new photoalbum at sidebar) My 'Inspiration-books' allow me to dream in fairy-tale style and help me better to understand my own creative process. I have inspired others to create their own albums, perhaps this will inspire you...
