Here are a few class photos from last weeks 'Victorian Collage' at the Castle. These collages are 3-dimensional and quite wonderful. The embellishments include: crepe papers, fancy papers, feathers, ribbons, glitter and other wonderful little trinkets. Everyone did such a great job, unfortunately my photography is not up to par, so you are only seeing a small sample of what was created. Enjoy.
Two years ago I stumbled upon the most amazing shop in Berkeley, California. 'CASTLE IN THE AIR' is a studio for the imagination. Here one finds an exotic bazaar of incredible whimsies, European gifts, Fine paper, Collectable pens, and to top it all off, an amazing selection of classes! I have been a regular teacher at the Castle ever since that fateful day that I first walked in. I also work there, one or two days a week, doing display, windows, front counter help and class upkeep. Please look at the beautiful sight to get an idea of what is offered at the Castle. I promise you will not be disappointed!
I will be posting photos from my classes soon, so that everyone can see how much talent we have coming to the Castle!!!
I am a child of Danish immigrants and did not learn to speak English until I was 5. This explains why I still pronounce words like gnome and gnat with a hard G, and why I say funny things like "Deck the Bed", "Deck the table", and "Shut the Lights". Straight Translation can really mess up ones language skills... I was named after my mothers best friend ('Big Ulla' to me). 'Ullabenulla' was a childhood endearment, that I have always been fond of. It speaks to me of: Innocence, playfulness and whimsy, elements that I try to incorporate into my artwork. Just in case you were wondering - Ulla means 'little bear' in Danish, a hint of what I looked like as an infant!
I hope to master the skill of entering photos into my posts next. Patience shall be rewarded!
Little birds must eventually stretch their wings and learn to fly. They leave the security of their warm nests and travel out to the big world beyond. I too am learning to fly, stretching my wings in the world of computers and blogs. I hope my adventures and tales will inspire and delight those who wish to follow. Welcome to my blog.
